Where to send your cancellation letter
Planet Fitness says members can end a membership by sending written notification by mail to the home club, visiting the home club in person, or logging into the online member portal when available. Policies and procedures may vary by location based on state and local guidelines.
Planet Fitness also says cancellation notice must be received by the club by the 10th of the month to stop monthly billing on the 17th, and by the 25th of the month before the annual fee date to stop the annual fee. If your membership has a minimum term and you end it early, Planet Fitness says a buyout fee may apply.
If you cancel by mail, use the home club address listed in your account or membership agreement, keep a copy of your letter, and save proof of mailing or delivery.

How to mail a gym cancellation letter
- Confirm the cancellation method and notice period in your membership agreement.
- Address the letter to the correct location (often your home club or a cancellation department).
- Sign the letter and keep a copy.
- Mail it early enough to meet any billing cutoff dates.
- Save tracking and delivery confirmation if you need proof.
Tracking and proof of delivery
