Cancel City Sports Club membership by mail (letter template)

Use this guide when your current membership agreement accepts a mailed written cancellation request, or when you want a record of the request. Verify the accepted method, address, notice period, signature requirements, and any required form before mailing.

City Sports Club member services lists multiple cancellation methods for most month-to-month memberships:

• Mail: Send written notice of cancellation to:
  • P.O. Box 54170
  • Irvine, CA 92619
  • (They recommend registered or certified mail and keeping a record for your files.)
• In person: Visit the front desk at a club.
• Online: Cancel via your online account, or as otherwise provided in your agreement (for example, some states may allow cancellation by email).

They also note that a mailed cancellation form postmarked at least 5 business days before your next billing date should result in no further billings.

1. Confirm the cancellation method and notice period in your membership agreement.
2. Address the letter to the correct location (often your home club or a cancellation department).
3. Sign the letter and keep a copy.
4. Mail it early enough to meet any billing cutoff dates.
5. Save tracking and delivery confirmation if you need proof.

USPS Certified Mail can document carrier acceptance and delivery or attempted-delivery events. PostalForm can mail your cancellation request with tracking options, but those records do not prove the gym accepted or completed the cancellation. Obtain written confirmation from the gym.
