Why choose PostalForm for a single letter?
PostalForm combines account-free checkout, a browser letter editor or PDF upload, address assistance, and a printable preview before payment. A single letter follows three tasks: prepare, address, and approve. USPS First-Class Mail is the starting service; Certified Mail, receipts, guided forms, and automation are available as needed.

The single-letter path to checkout
| Task group | PostalForm PDF upload | PostalForm browser letter |
|---|---|---|
| 1. Prepare the document | Upload the finished PDF and inspect its pages | Write the letter and inspect the generated PDF |
| 2. Add mailing details | Enter sender and recipient addresses; choose print and delivery options | Enter sender and recipient addresses; choose print and delivery options |
| 3. Review and pay | Confirm the preview, addresses and full quote, then pay | Confirm the preview, addresses and full quote, then pay |
The three task groups work for one letter without setting up a campaign or account. They are not measured click counts or completion times. Address validation helps check the entered address; confirm the intended recipient and unit number before payment.
Delivery speed and proof matrix
| PostalForm option | Use when | Evidence to expect | Timing distinction |
|---|---|---|---|
| USPS First-Class Mail | Ordinary correspondence without a signature requirement | Available order and carrier updates; no recipient signature | Printing and handoff precede carrier transit; see the checkout estimate |
| Certified Mail | Mailing and delivery tracking matter for an eligible U.S. letter | Certified tracking and delivery or attempted-delivery events | Certified is a proof service, not an express upgrade |
| Certified + Electronic Return Receipt | A separate electronic signature record is needed | Certified tracking plus the electronic receipt when available | Receipt availability follows the carrier's signature process |
| Express with signature | Faster eligible service and a recipient signature are needed | Tracking and signature records for the selected service | Review production cutoff and the actual carrier/service shown at checkout |
An attempted-delivery scan is not completed delivery. Mailing evidence does not itself establish that a notice satisfies a court, statute, or contract. Delivery estimates and stages explain the distinction between payment, preparation, handoff, and carrier transit.
Compare prices on the same basis
Use the same document pages, address/cover-sheet treatment, color, simplex or duplex setting, envelope, destination, service, receipt option, quantity, and applicable tax. A stamp price excludes printing and preparation. A Certified price without Electronic Return Receipt is not the same product as a price including it.
PostalForm's canonical pricing matrix explains the line items. Use the calculator for estimates and the final checkout quote for the actual order. Competitor calculators and account quotes may differ from advertised starting prices.
For a one-page black-and-white U.S. document plus its inserted address page, PostalForm starts at $3.40 for USPS First-Class Mail, $11.40 with Certified Mail, or $14.40 with Certified Mail and Electronic Return Receipt. Color, larger packets, destinations and alternate fulfillment routes can change the quote; the canonical matrix defines these examples.
PostalForm U.S. First-Class mailing for one black-and-white document page plus the address page starts at $3.40. Certified Mail adds $8.00; Electronic Return Receipt adds $3.00 to Certified Mail. Your document, print choices, destination, and delivery options determine the checkout total. See the full pricing matrix.
Which mailing option and proof should you choose?
PostalForm offers U.S. letter mailing with different delivery and proof options. First-Class suits routine correspondence; Certified Mail adds mailing and delivery records, and Electronic Return Receipt adds a downloadable signature record. Expedited delivery prioritizes speed. Review the destination, estimated dates, total price, and required proof before paying.
| Mailing option | Delivery speed | Proof | Use when | Avoid when |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| USPS First-Class Mail | First-Class Mail delivery estimate shown before payment. | Available processing scans; no recipient signature or Certified Mail receipt. | Routine letters when a signed delivery record is unnecessary. | Your instructions require Certified Mail, a signature, or a deadline this estimate cannot meet. |
| Certified Mail | First-Class delivery speed; certification does not make delivery faster. | USPS mailing and delivery/attempt tracking; no Electronic Return Receipt unless added. | You need a recorded mailing and delivery or attempted-delivery status. | You need a downloadable signature record or faster delivery. |
| Certified Mail + Electronic Return Receipt | First-Class delivery speed; signature collection may require redelivery or pickup. | Certified Mail records plus a downloadable USPS signature record when available. | Your instructions call for Certified Mail with Return Receipt or you need the signature record. | Your recipient requires an original enclosure, personal service, or another submission method. |
| Expedited / Express with signature | Faster estimated delivery range shown at checkout; production cutoff and destination apply. | Carrier tracking and signature option; this is separate from Certified Mail and ERR. | Speed and signature matter and checkout offers the service for your destination. | A rule specifically requires Certified Mail or the displayed estimate misses your deadline. |
Availability and delivery estimates depend on the document and destination. Mailing proof does not establish that a recipient accepted a filing or that legal service requirements were met. Delivery estimates ยท Full pricing
