# Delivery times

Production and carrier handoff usually takes 1-3 business days. For qualifying U.S. mail, USPS First Class transit typically takes 3-7 business days after acceptance, depending on distance and postal volume. Express transit is faster (1-3 business days) and shown before checkout, with optional signature required at delivery if you need it. For supported non-U.S. destinations, checkout shows the available service options for the selected country.

## The timeline has two parts
PostalForm controls production, print preparation, address verification, postage preparation, and carrier handoff. The destination carrier controls transit and delivery after acceptance. That distinction matters when you are counting backward from a deadline: the checkout date, carrier acceptance date, and final delivery date are not the same thing.

Use the checkout estimate as a planning tool, not as a legal guarantee. If instructions say a document must be postmarked or received by a specific date, mail early and choose the faster service when the margin is small.

## What happens after checkout
1. **Order queued** - your order is queued immediately after checkout.
2. **Production starts** - orders move into print and mailing preparation after checkout.
3. **Print and prep** - we print, verify addresses, and prepare postage.
4. **Carrier handoff and transit** - we hand the letter to the selected carrier or mailing provider, and that carrier handles transit and delivery from there.

## Factors that influence delivery
- Distance, country, and carrier routing.
- Weekends and federal postal holidays.
- Carrier volume spikes (holidays, tax season, weather events).
- Address accuracy and deliverability.

## Tips for faster delivery
- Submit before 10 AM Eastern if you want the best chance of same-day carrier handoff for qualifying U.S. Express mail.
- Use a complete, validated address (including unit numbers).
- Confirm recipient details before checkout.

- **When does the carrier receive the letter?** Production and carrier handoff usually takes 1-3 business days. U.S. Express orders submitted before 10 AM Eastern can sometimes be printed and handed to the carrier the same business day; later Express orders usually reach USPS by the next business day.
- **Can delivery be delayed?** Yes. Distance, country, weekends, postal holidays, carrier volume, and customs or local routing can add time. Incorrect or incomplete addresses can cause returns or re-routing.
- **Does PostalForm guarantee delivery by a specific date?** No. Carrier transit times are estimates, and delivery after carrier acceptance is outside PostalForm's control.
- **Can I cancel or get a refund after the carrier accepts the mailpiece?** Mailed orders are generally non-cancelable and non-refundable after carrier acceptance, except where required by law or if the issue was caused by our printing, processing, or fulfillment of the order.
- **What does "business day" mean here?** Saturdays count. Sundays and federal holidays do not.
- **Will I get tracking?** Certified Mail (First Class only) provides a USPS tracking number, with optional electronic return receipt.
- **Can Express require a signature?** Yes. At checkout you can choose whether an Express mailing should require a signature at delivery.
