# Court document mailing guides

Mailing a court document is more than putting a PDF in an envelope. The clerk or division, case number, required copies, filing fee, service rules, physical enclosures, and deadline can all affect whether a packet is accepted.

## Before uploading
1. Confirm that this court accepts this document by postal mail.
2. Use the official clerk, division, judge, trustee, or other recipient address for the case.
3. Check whether the rule turns on mailing, receipt, acceptance, or docketing.
4. Include every required signature, case number, attachment, and redaction.
5. Determine whether other parties require separate copies or a different service method.
6. Use another mailing method if the packet needs a check, money order, wet-ink original, self-addressed stamped envelope, or physical exhibit.

## FAQs
- **Does mailing mean the document was filed?** No. Carrier delivery is not the same as clerk acceptance or docket entry. Confirm through the official docket, clerk, or other court-provided record.
- **Can PostalForm serve another party?** You can create a separate, recipient-specific order after reviewing exactly which pages that person should receive. Whether mail is valid service depends on the rules for the case, recipient, method, timing, and proof.
- **Can you include a filing fee?** Not in these upload-first workflows. PostalForm cannot insert a check, money order, or other physical payment.
- **Does Certified Mail satisfy court rules?** It provides a mailing and tracking record when available. It does not override a court's required filing or service method.
- **Can I mail confidential exhibits?** Only after following the court's sealing, redaction, and restricted-filing procedures.
